Art & Society
I was always
interested in art, but didn’t understand the importance of it. Art became a
hobby for me, not something I paid mind to every day. 3months ago I was
clueless about the vocabulary one uses to speak about art or even being able to
describe it, now I’m to able to identify what is art, what can be art and how
art is every where you go. Art can be a splat of paint on the wall; it’s all
about a person’s perception of it. Taking this course made me view art differently
because art has
enhanced my creativity, I tend to express myself through photos and painting. I
tend to be more observant of what’s around me.
I look at art differently because it
takes me away from my every day living and keeps me sane. I usually go to differently art institutions on my spare time
and will continue, I try to visit different events once a month. The trip I
enjoyed to most would be the Brooklyn Museum; I had the opportunity to visit
one of my favorite artists Kehinde Wiley and Chitra Ganesh. I also did meet and
great with Chitra Ganesh It was a
great experience because I was studying and following Kehinde Wiley art even
before I attended LaGuardia. It was great to see that my professor and
classmates can appreciate the same interest of Kehinde Wiley work as I did. Overall
I found this course to be very valuable because I’m now able to put into
practice what I’ve learned, I’m able to walk into any museum or gallery and
speak about a work of art in a professional way.
