Blog Post #10

i want to start off with one of my favorite quotations by Helena Bonham Carter, “I think everything in life is art. What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone, and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in, and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea. How you decorate your home. Or party. Your grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel. Life is art.” I totally agree with Carter. I believe that everything in our life and life itself is art because it makes you feel things and it also helps you to express what you feel. I’m glad I took this class because it made my beliefs stronger. All the talks in class about different styles of art, different artists and the visual elements of art works helped me understand how art works, what a work shows and says. It made my every museum experience better. I was actually able to think and understand different type of artworks and I was also able to talk about some in the weekly blog posts. It was a fun experience because I didn’t feel like I was studying and writing papers for college. I loved all the museum trips especially the trip to the Metropolitan Museum of art because i was able to see all the Van Gogh paintings in person (I’m a big fan of him) and also other famous art works from different cultures. I also loved the day we spent in the sculpture room. It was like being alone in a beautiful place though I wasn’t alone. Sitting by the gigantic window, watching everyone work on their art projects on a beautiful day like that made me realize, how much art matters in our lives and how weirdly happy or sad it can make you feel like Vincent Van Gogh said, “I want to touch people with my art. I want them to say, he feels deeply, he feels tenderly.”
