Blog #8

The topic I chose was abuse. "Abuse-
treat (a person or an animal) with cruelty or violence, especially regularly or repeatedly". The reason why I chose this topic was because I believe this is happening worldwide. Many people have lost their lives because they aren't able to leave there partner due to the fact that they are afraid Or feel they will never find anyone else .In most cases the person  feels there spouse loves them and only does it because they have done something wrong  when in reality there not the problem. I want people to know that it is never to late to get out of an abusive relationship. Abuse not only occurs in women but also in men. There are many types of abuse , emotionally, verbally and lastly physically.  This escalates from threats and verbal abuse to violence. Emotionally abusive relationships can destroy your self worth and can cause depression, anxiety ,you feel as if your helpless or alone. Physical abuse is the use of physical force against someone in a way that can endanger  that person . If the person your in a relationship with has injured you once it's prone to happen again . Here are some questions you can ask yourself to determine if your in an abusive relationship . Do you feel afraid of your partner much of the time ? Does your partner humiliate you or yell at you ?Recognize the situation once you know your in a abusive relationship, it will be easier to get out of it . There are many places to seek for help you can go online or call the national domestic violence association . I believe a big tulip statue with rocks on the bottom would make a good piece of artwork. The tulip representing the person /the people going through this , and the rocks around the flower representing all the bad things they experienced . The tulip is blooming over the rocks meaning they were able to overcome this . My artwork would be a 3D tulip statue, 12 feet tall . The tulip would be pink and the rocks would be black. This statue would be placed some where someone can see it , like in the city near by the Empire State Building. Many tourists and people go  there to take pictures or just for the sake of it . I believe the big tulip will capture there attention. This statue would be for everyone that experienced abuse and were able to overcome it and also for the people that are going through abuse , this can encourage them to leave the relationship and to not be afraid. They are not alone .

  1. Good Evelyn-what do you see the sculpture being made of? Something soft or hard or both? Also, maybe the tulip stem could show some damage and repair representing resilience..?? We'll work on it in class.
