Blog Post 8

What is the topic?
How the Sneaker “Game” has arise over the years.

Why did you pick this?
I picked this topic because I’m a big fan of the sneakers business. I enjoy the trade and sell part of the sneaker business, makes me feel like a entrepreneur even thought it’s common in NYC to do.

What do you want people to know about it?
I want people to know that this is a growing business for people of all different backgrounds. It helps people get the feel of what’s it like to have the best quality of something and being able to sell something so valuable that everybody wants to get their hands on.

What would be a good Monument/artwork to communicate your ideas on that cause/ idea?
I would make a monument of a Huge NIKE sneaker box with money or sneakers coming out of it, to represent the value of sneaker selling of this generation.

What would it look like? What is it made of?
It would look like a 3D Rectangular shape box, Warm color of red. The texture would be a rough bumpy feel for example, the material of a basketball.  The money or sneaker that comes out of it would be a metallic texture. The color of the money of the sneakers or money would be shinny sliver.  The size of my monument would be 10ft tall x 15ft wide.

Where would it be?
It would be in Washington Square Park located in the West Village. I choose this specific location because its one of my favorite parks to go, you see a lot youth diversity and sneaker heads hanging out even selling and trading kicks.

Who is it for ?

It would be for all cultures and ages. People would enjoy and understand the sneaker “game “ business.

  1. This is interesting Ingrid- are you a fan or critical of the Sneaker game? Clarify your opinion of it and let's see if we can add some of that into the sculpture itself...
