In my opinion I see art everywhere around me, from walking
out my building to my final destination. This picture was taken back in October;
I decided to walk around Bushwick to grab a bite to eat. I came across this
chica (which means women in Spanish form) if you guys decide to visit her she
located in Bushwick Brooklyn on Boerum and Bogart Street. As you can see the
Mural was tagged by the artist himself “David Copper”. This is a 2D sprayed
painted mural outside an abandon warehouse wall. As a Viewer I can see a 12ft high image of a
chica from the 90s popping her gum with her to cool for high school doorknocker
earrings. It’s an image with cool color blends of pink, yellow and brown. I
think the artist David cooper was trying to show a representation of BK Swag (The
new generation’s alternative word for cool). David Coppers’ mural is a clear
invite to his inner thoughts and emotions of his childhood memories in
Brooklyn, which gives us a tangible form to the unknown. Thou self-expression is
unique to the individual, I consider “Brooklyn Chic” a relatable piece to anyone
who grow up in the inner city. I can recall memories when my older sister use
the doorknocker earrings and use the boldest and brightest red lips stick they
find. I recommend everyone to go and visit this amazing piece. It’s the only
piece on the block that will make stop and pose in front of it. It may remind
some of you of a throw back time.
Wow that's a wonderful mural you picked Ingrid. It is giving a tangible form to the unknown- sort of, but they way you describe your memories it would also be giving tangible form to emotion, too. I think it could also be serving the purpose of refreshing our vision of the world.
