Blog post # 1
This picture was taken in La Guardia Community College in the C building on the 7th floor and I found it quiet interesting . It's a 2D painting and its placed on a wall near many other paintings. I'm not sure how big this is but I'm guessing it's a 36 x 36 . This painting is very detailed and abstract . There's a castle , a girl that looks highly upset, a guy's eye ,a bull on fire, the mountains and spider-man in one corner and so on , It has various different colors and It's more like a fairy tale painting. It reminds me of Cinderella, her not being able to marry the guy she truly loves because of her cruel step mother and sisters , which I feel that's what the bull on fire represents , that's why she looks so devastated. The mountains representing some source of freedom . I believe Spider-Man represents her being saved where as in the real Cinderella her fairy god mother saves her and gives her a dress for her to be able to go to the dance . According to the purpose of art I feel this painting would be best categorized under artwork gives tangible forms to feelings . The entire painting represents an emotion , the girl, the bull on fire , the mountains ,the guys eye and Spider-Man being the hero. The artist maybe felt the same like Cinderella and described how he or she felt in her own way by painting this or he /she just wanted to remind us of fairy tales and how it often happens in real life . Also they probably wanted to make there own fairy tale painting based on the events that occurred in there life and in any other fairy tale stories and want to leave a message to the people saying that there not alone they are not the only ones feeling this way .

Nice work Evelyn- I will have to look out for this painting. It definitely is giving a tangible form to feelings-you have a whole story that evolved from viewing this! Good start on the blog!
