I once read a quote from a photographer that said that people must have two passions: a this-is-how-you-pay-your-bills-but-might-not-necessarily-enjoy passion and a this-is-how-i-fuel-my-creativity passion. So as serious as I am about my work and being involved in social movements and bringing white supremacy to its knees, I also equally see the world through a lens of fabric, color schemes, texture, and pattern. In short, I see art, especially in New York City, through clothes. Now, since I could never bare to be amidst the chaos that is New York Fashion Week, I borrowed a few street style photos of the most recent fashion week from a website that I subscribe to.
This is the art I see everywhere. As soon as I step out of my house, my eyes are immediately averted to the throng of folks I encounter and their wardrobes. To me, this art is 4D because what a person wears says a lot about them. Fashion people recognize other fashion folks and interaction occurs in that way. The function of style is to create places for human purpose (fashion week and fashion industry), to construct meaningful images and forms (where would the world be without the wrap dress? Thanks, DVF!), to give tangible form to the unknown (sporty chic didn't come from thin air), and to refresh our vision and see the world in a new way (people who are big in the fashion industry working towards a more diverse fashion collective).

Patria- so many interesting ideas here, and based on them I look forward to you writing throughout the semester. Fashion and art have so much overlap, especially in contemporary society. However, for this week's blog post the images was supposed to be on that you took yourself, and a required 250 word minimum.
